NEW! 2021 CALENDAR AVAILABLE
A1. We are located in central-southern Illinois.
A2. I guarantee that the kitten(s) is healthy upon pick-up. Kittens are required to be seen by a veterarian during the 4 days after pick up to validate the Health Guarantee. If an untreatable health problem is found during the fours days after pick up or in the time specified on the Contract, I will then require full veterinarian documentation and upon confirmation of such documentations, the kitten will be replaced by a kitten of equal value.
Q3. What happens if I fail to have my kitten(s) examined within the four day period or if I choose to not add the Nuvet Supplements to my cats diet?
A3. The Health Guarantee becomes activated if the Kitten is fully examined by a veterinarian within the four day period from the time of purchase. Failure to have the kitten examined will Null and Void your Health Guarantee.
A4.No, this service is currently unavailable. Unless stated otherwise all kittens will be sold as pets, no exceptions.
A5. Our Kittens are fed the Raw Meat Diet as early as five weeks of age. This recipe can be found on the Health page. Additonally with the wet food, kittens are also given a combination of Young Again Supplements and Young Again kibble food. Every Siamese Royalty Kitten goes home with a Kitten Pack. It will include a kitten contract, a cat toy, food vouchers, litter coupons, food for your Kitten and information conveying appropriate methods for feeding and taking care of your kitten.
Q6. What are the benefits of adding the Nuvet Supplements or ANY pet supplements to my cats diet? What is a healthy diet for a cat you ask?
A6. Although many supplement companies like to make certain claims regarding their products, the truth of the matter is, no amount of supplements can replace, nor compensate for an unhealthy diet. While supplements may improve the overall health of a cat, they can not alter the genetic disposition of a cat. In theory however, a well balance diet provides all the nutrients necessary for good health. A carnivore, such as the cat, ideally needs a fresh raw diet to sustain a healthy physical and mental state of being. Unfortunately, many cats do not receive all the nutrients they require in their diet. There are factors such as enzyme inhibitors and the processing of meat in kibble destroying most of the taurine and bio-availability of nutrients from foods. Cats subjected to this kind of food will not obtain all the nutrients that are needed in a cats diet. Therefore, there is reason to believe that certain supplements can provide the needed protection against nutritional deficiency that resulted from a diet of dry kibble food. There may also be certain medical or stressful conditions that are known to decease the immunity, and treatment for such conditions may include the addition of appropriate supplements.
A7. IF there is a discount, perhaps in some cases, it will only be very minimal. Added expenses are needed to keep two kittens healthy.
A8. Firstly, all deposits are vaild for one year from the time they were received, unless the transaction is cancelled altogether by either the buyer or myself. In this situation however, you will be given two options. You may forward your deposit towards the next round of litters and wait until the kitten of your choice comes along or you may choose the second preference you have specified on your Kitten Application.
A9. Yes, the first two weeks that your kitten initially arrives home. It is better to gradually introduce a kitten to his/her new home, especially if you already have another cat or dog, by placing your new kitten in a quite room where he feels less threatened. It is also important to screen your kitten away from other animals to avoid the threat of catching any illness.
A10. While humans can offer a great deal of love and nurturing, there is a special type of feline companionship and interaction that felines crave for that cannot be replicated by human beings. This principle equally applies to humans. They need their own kind. The feline to feline bond is very apparent when you watch them sleeping together or grooming each other's faces, or protecting each other against other enemies or grieving the loss of their kitty companion.
A11. While a Siamese cat of either sex will share their home with other Non-Siamese cats, they are not known for getting along with other cats. Due to their intelligence and possessive nature, they often rule the roost making other cats feel insecure. Although each Siamese has its own unique personality, many choose to avoid mixing Siamese and Non-Siamese cats together as they tend to get along best with their own kind.
Q12. Will my kitten be vaccinated and treated for worms and parasites? What is the protocol for the Rabies vaccine?
A12. Yes. All of Siamese Royalty kittens are vaccinated with the HESKA vaccine. Additionally all kittens are treated for Giardia and four types of worms that can effect your kitten. If a Rabies vaccine is required, I recommend Purevax Merial one year Rabies vaccine. Going against my recommendation will however null and void your Health Contract Purchase Agreement.
Q13. Should I expect to see any reactions from an intranasal vaccine? When does my kitten need its next vaccine?
A13. Yes, you will see some minor reactions from the intranasal vaccine. The intranasal vaccine irritates the nasal passage therefore causing the kitten to sneeze for 10 days after the vaccine is administered. The HESKA intranasal vaccine is a one year vaccine when administered at twelve weeks and a three year vaccine when given at twelve months. Therefore, no further vaccines are required for the first year of the kittens life.
A14. Yes, make a veterinary appointment a day or two in advance, before you pick up your kitten. Be sure to arrange the appointment so that it is within the four-day time frame given, however, after the purchase of your kitten.
A15. I use the Breeze Litter System by Purina. Breeze litter system separates urine for outstanding odor control. The "ceramics like" non toxic pellets, ae are safe around cats/kittens. Anti-Tracking cat friendly BREEZE Litter Pellets stay in the cat litter box, always remain dry to touch, leaving your cats paws & floors clean from litter. The Breeze Litter System can be purchased from Super Walmarts, Petco and Petsmart. Clumping Cat Litter is made from Sodium Bentonite which is designed to naturally swell 15 times its original volume. When a kitten “eats” the litter, it becomes expandable cement blocking the pumping and causing dehydration, preventing absorption of nutrients and fluids. This is also a very unhygienic practice that can lead to many serious Feline diseases. Sodium Bentonite send dust particles into the air creating possible respiratory problems transferring Silica Quartz, a Cancer casing agent into your system as well as your kitten/cat. Read Article: Clumping Clay Kitty Litters, A Deadly Convenience?
A16. No, not under any circumstances. Siamese Royalty is a closed cattery. There are risks associated with stud servicing, including diseases, liabilities and other undesirable consequences which can negatively impact the cattery and the Queen involved.
A17. Although there are a few cat registries like TICA and CFF that are now showing the Traditional Siamese at Cat Shows, the price that you will be paying is for a pet quality kitten.
A18. Kittens leave the cattery for their new home at 10 weeks of age. There are potential problems that arise when a kitten leaves home too early. Please read, How Young is Too Young?
Q19. Why do you make your deposit non-refundable and will it come off the original amount of purchase?
A19. A non-refundable deposit of $200.00 for a Siamese and $250.00 is your commitment towards purchasing a (one) kitten. This helps to discourage non committed customers. Once the deposit is paid, the remaining balance owed will be the difference between the original price and the deposit.
A20. Kittens are very similar to toddlers, they love to explore and typically taste and chew anything that can fit in their mouth, especially during their early months of teething. With that said, be cautions with electrical leads that can cause an electric shock. Other misdemeanors are rubber bands, tape and strings of wool, that can be swallowed and not easily passed through the bowel tract. Be prepared to keep your bathroom door closed, until your kitten matures sufficiently. Also, since the toilet paper may undergo a series of abuses, often resulting in the roll shredded into many pieces, or in case your kitten falls into the toilet bowel, it may be wise to remember to keep the bathroom areas out of bounds so far as cats are concerned. Also, keep cardboard, toxic cleaners, aerosol cans and other poison in an area that your kitten can not access.
A21. No. Actually the Long Hair Siamese (Balinese) shred less than the Short Haired, since they do not have an undercoat. This is what makes the Long Haired Siamese so unique when compared to other long Haired Cats, including Ragdolls, Himalayans, and Persians which continuously shred. Unlike these breeds, the Long Haired Siamese hair is considerable shorter. Body fur is typically around 1 inch long. The tail is usually very bushy, however.
A22. The general rule of thumb is to never pair two females cats together. Their mood swings make them generally more incompatible when mixed together. A male and a female or two males make more suitable pairs.
Q23. Is it true that the Siamese is a "hypoallergenic" (fewer or less allergenic) cat and are better for people who suffer from allergies, including Asthma Suffers?
A23. Yes, generally speaking. It is said that allergy suffers report less allergic reaction to both the Siamese, Balinese & Color Pt Siamese Breed than other Shorthaired and Longhaired cats. Despite popular beliefs, it is the protein excreted in feline salvia and skin glands that bring about an allergic reaction, not the cat dander itself. The Siamese cat excrete feline salvia at a lower molecular weight, reducing the likelihood of an allergic reaction. The Siamese, Balinese & Color Pt Siamese cat have a different genetic hair structure, which produce less of the allergen that humans are allergic to. Additionally, female cats produce a lower level of allergens of Fel d 1, the main allergenic protein than males.
Q24. I’m thinking of buying two kittens, I am worried that my Kitten/Cats will show less affection and loyalty towards me or my family members.
A24. The Siamese breed is famously known for their ability to show consistent undying affection toward their human owners. No other breed surpasses the Siamese in its ability to communicate love for human beings. Paradoxically, the more intelligent they seem to be, the more they depend on their owners for company. With that said, while they may be content with “cat company” during the day, while you may be away, they prefer the interaction of humans. Humans make the Siamese cat feel secure and consequently their loyalty is reserved for their owners. In this sense, the Siamese cat acts more like a dog than a cat.
A25. Declawing is a painful and serious surgery that should not be taken lightly. A cat without claws is one without self-defense, leaving it defenseless against their predators, psychologically speaking. Physically mutilating the joints of your cat’s “toes”, can change a cat mentally. Their personality and disposition may completely alter, possibly making the cat more aggressive or more withdrawn. The potential side effects resulting can creating the opposite affect that declawing was intended for. The claws help the cat to establish proper balance during walking, running, springing, climbing and stretching. Claws help exercise the foot muscles. Additionally, cats use their claws to scratch their bodies with. Like all surgeries, there are associated complications that include pain, permanent damage to the radial nerve, hemorrhaging, unhealed bone chips, painful re-growth of deformations, chronic back and joint pain as leg and back muscles weaken.
A26. If you are still adamant about declawing your cat/kitten after reading Dr. Christianne Schelling article on Declawing and Jackie Bell If you love your Cat don’t Declaw you will be denied the opportunity of purchasing a kitten. If, upon purchasing a kitten, your intention is not to declaw your cat/kitten but you then at a latter point change your mind, your contract will become null and void. There is an alternative to declawing. Solve your cat’s scratching problems with Soft Paws
A27.Socialization is a an imperative process that we apply for proper kitten rearing. The first early stages of a kitten’s life are most important in terms of preparing a kitten for human bonding. Socialization is necessary if we are to see a kitten learn to trust and love humans. Consequently, the integration of these skills are carried into adulthood, which have a lasting effect on the personality of the cat. To neglect socialization at an early stage of a kitten’s life can have irreversible repercussions, which range from nervousness, feral behavior and a general fear of humans. Properly handled, a kitten will form positive associations with you, and be a friend to you for life. Like clay in your hands, molding their personalities can be for better or worse. In addition to handling the kittens myself, the sphere of handlers include my four children who interact with the kittens on daily basis and are trained in the art of kitten socialization. This helps kittens to learn to trust all humans since they seems to generalize the experience, trusting and warming to their new owners almost immediately. Socialization of cats facilitates the development of proper brain simulation which is said to help develop a cats intelligence.
Q28. My kitten is scheduled to be shipped out, am I required to organize any part of the shipping arrangements.
A28. No, to help eliminate error, I have decided that all shipping arrangements are solely to be made by the shipper (myself) and not the Buyer. I have simply encountered too many problems with regards to harmonizing joint coordination attempts.
Q29. What happens if I do not pick up my kitten(s) on the agreed upon date? Am I expected to pay a boarding fee?
A29. To avoid cancellation of Kitten adoption altogether, please be sure to be available on the date that your kitten(s) is scheduled for pick up. If you are unavailable to pick up your kitten(s) on the due date, please explain this right from the start, before any potential kitten adoption process begins. Ordinarily, I can not/will not approve any Kitten Adoption for those who are unavailable the week their kitten is scheduled for pick up. If, however, EVEN as a result of unforeseen and unavoidable circumstances that is outside your control, a boarding fee of $50.00 per week will be applied for the extended time your kitten is under my care. Under these unique circumstances, AND approved by me, your deposit may also be transferred to the next available litter that works within your available pick up time frame.
Q30. Will I lose my deposit if I choose to not to take my kitten the very day I arrive scheduled for pick up?
A30. Yes. This is a great loss for others who expressed interest in the kitten in question.
A31. Yes. Yearly printed Calendars will feature photos of current Queens, Sires or Buyer kittens that are relevant to the previous year. A collection of the finest professionally taken photos which will consist of a full twelve month Calendar year. Calendars are made from high gloss quality printing paper.
A32. Siamese Royalty Calendar is available to the general public.
Q33. I am unable to stop my cat from scratching my furniture. What can I do to discourage my cat from this Behaviour?
A33. In order to effectively train your cat, you must first understand the way cats think and what drives their actions Cat Behaviour Secrets Revealed is an effective resource into the world of cat Behaviour.
A34. Through selective breeding, we do our very best to breed out any undesirable genetic traits that may become apparent. Although good breeders, may significantly reduce undesirable genetic traits, they cannot breed them out entirely. Apart from imperfect genes, other unforeseen factors play an enormous role. Although limited in a good breeding program, any number of environmental factors can interact with genetic abnormalities and compound the problem. Even with good breeding practices and an optimal diet including the use of great supplements, no breeder can make the outlandish promise that their kitten/cat will remain in good health. It is also possible that a preexisting genetic disposition may lay dormant and may not manifest itself until its appointed time. Summarily, even the best breeders can not provide absolute assurance of complete genetic soundness. Be wary of breeders who make such confident claims. For this reason, a reputable breeder will include a genetic "guarantee" with the adoption of every kitten. In doing so, breeders are not promising genetically perfect kittens, but are prepared to offer a replacement kitten if a genetic deficiency is proven.
A35. While dogs and cats are relatively resistant to these types of bacteria due to their extreme stomach acidity and relatively short digestive tracts, there have been many cases of dogs and cats that have become ill from Salmonella found in dry kibble food. In addition, while there have been very few recalls of commercial raw diets resulting with Salmonella, there have been many documented cases of humans getting Salmonella as a result of handling dry kibble pet food. In the few cases where raw-diet recalls were made, animals or humans that were subjected to the food did not suffer from any illness. While there are other organisms that may be found in raw meat, such as Toxoplasma, a protozoa parasite, freezing the meat for at least 72 hours destroys the parasitic cysts and kills the organism. Additionally, commercially prepared raw food manufacturers, due to strict regulations, take extra measures to eliminate the presence of unwanted organisms such as salmonella and e. coli. While commercial manufactures of processed kibble food like to boast of the effect their food has on cats' health, sadly, however, thousands of cases of cats whose health have greatly improved on a raw diet are not published on the web.
A36. While potential buyers may love the look or personality of a particular kitten, I possess a greater awareness of whether a very young kitten will develop into the sort of cat, that the buyer has indicated he/she prefers. In addition, since most of the few kittens that we produce each year are generally sold before they are even born or weeks after birth, the possibility of customers choosing their kittens at or around the adoption date (10 weeks or so) is not really an option. Furthermore, it has been my experience, from having had potential buyers enter our home for the purpose of choosing a kitten, that they are largely unaware that they carry with them certain environmental pathogens both on their hands and on their shoes/clothing. This, unfortunately, may threaten the entire cattery with an unknown illness. Also, throughout the time that kittens are in our care, kittens immunity continue to develop until they have fully grown into adult cats. Consequently, kittens who were handled by strangers, and exhibit existing stresses associated with weaning, would very often become sick. This has the effect of leaving me with the added stress of having to medicate the entire litter back to health and pushing their projected release date back.
A37. In short, I am committed to the interests of every buyer and this includes sustaining the well-being of my kittens from birth to adoption. Kitten choice is an important choice. It is a choice that has the potential of shaping 20 years of a person's, or family's life. Each potential buyer must complete a kitten application which screens and creates a profile for each buyer. This process provides the basis for enabling me to help select their dream kitty. Many factors are taken into consideration, including preference of color point, kitten's sex, and length of coat. Once kittens are born, buyers that have either left a deposit or are on my kitten waiting list, are notified if a kitten matches the buyer's preference. Kitten photos, videos and Skype meetings (once kitten is more physically developed) can be arranged.
A38. If your circumstance requires additional children to be present in my home on the pick-up day, please contact me beforehand. Otherwise, a maximum of one extra person is preferred. You may bring along a friend or a family member/spouse on the day of pick-up. However, a crowd of people invited along (as a meeting place) that are not directly related to the kitten's adoption process, can distract, confuse and compromise the process. Very important instructions are given on the day of pick up. These kinds of distractions can sometimes result in me having to repeat the same information after the kitten leaves.
A39. So you're wondering what all those fancy names before and after a cat's name mean. To put it simply, the prefix before a registered title denotes the name of the cattery that the original bloodlines came from. For example: Siamese Royalty Princess Portia In this example, "Siamese Royalty" was the original owner/breeder and name of the cattery that the original bloodlines originated. The suffix at the end of a cat's title that is, SOMETIMES ADDED, indicates transfer of new ownership from previous owner/breeder. For Example: "Siamese Royalty Princess Portia of Tresor Cats". However, sometimes for personal reasons breeders may choose to omit the prefix at the start of a title.
A40. From time to time I receive calls from would-be buyers that, while at first glance seem to want to adopt a pet from me, they later reveal that they wish to breed. The justification often offered for breeding their "pet" runs along the lines that it would be "fun" or "good for the kiddies to experience the to joys of breeding". Though I do not support this arbitrary practice, if this is the case, why not breed any two cats together? Such buyers however want to only pay the cost of a pet and not the higher cost of a breeding cat. All reputable Breeders, at some times, have "paid their dues" when purchasing a breeding cat. It takes years of quality breeding to achieve the kind of look/temperament many breeders strive for and it is, in this sense, a breech of copyright. A great deal of hard work and cost (at times involves importing cost) is needed to keep breeding parents and kittens healthy and socialized long-term. Furthermore, I can not sell any of my kittens as Breeding cats since all of my bloodlines have been contractually restricted to be sold as pets only. What this mean is that I have contractually agreed with the Breeders that I have obtianed my bloodlines from, not sell any of my kittens as breeding cats.
Q41. "I am only interested in adopting a kitten as a pet, not for showing purposes". Do I get a discount if a adopt a kitten without papers?
A41. While the cost, after weeks of care before kittens leave, for breeders to produce high-end pedigreed cats is rather extensive, the cost for litter registration is somewhat negligible. Litter registration is an easy process for any breeder to obtain. Furthermore, a reputable breeder should always sell their kittens with litter registration. This process safeguards the breeder from charges of in-breeding as well as other practices associated with "backyard breeding". The only exception to this rule is if the breeder does not possess legitimate breeding rights and can not provide you with litter registration. Needless to say, at Siamese Royalty, every Kitten Buyer receives CFF Pink Slip Litter Certificate and are not given a discount, regardless of those who don't wish to obtain registration papers. There are, at times, reasons for discounts, but this is not one of them.
A42. Siamese cats are very valuable creatures and especially the well socialized that will trust any stranger who may approach them. This, unfortunately, makes them an easy target for thieves. Additionally, due to the many variables and dangers that outdoor cats encounter, the average life-span of an outdoor cat is considerably lower than indoor cats. This is why all Siamese Royalty kittens are sold with a contractual agreement that outlines the Buyer's responsibility in keeping their cats indoors.
A43. Let me start by saying that there are risks any time a foreign object enters your pet’s body. The most common risk reported is the possible migration of the microchip from its original implantation site. There have even been reports that microchips have migrated as far as the belly. Although quite rare, microchips can also fail and become undetectable by a scanner. Effects from microchipping may include localized hair loss, infection, foreign-body tumorigenesis, post-injection sarcoma, possible genotoxic properties of the Implant, radio-frequency energy emissions from transponders or readers and Neurological damage progressive tetraparesis. Furthermore, research shows that between 1996 and 2006, up to 10 percent of laboratory animals had some kind of reaction to being microchipped. While these cases are rarely reported, it is likely that many more cases have not yet been documented. On the other hand, if you think that your cat has a high probability of being separated from you, outdoors, then a microchip may be a good idea. Ultimately, microchipping of your pet is a personal choice. All risks must be considered and weighed up against the benefits especially if your pet is to live indoors. Cancer and Chip Implants
A44. Yes, however, personal checks or PayPal payments are accepted for kitten deposits only. Due to fraud, any balances due that are made face to face, must be paid in cash only. Bank Money Orders or Bank Cashiers Checks can only be accpeted for shipping payments. I DO NOT ACCEPT wired transfers, Cashier Checks or Money Orders from WESTERN UNION. If you choose to pay me with WESTERN UNION your kitten adoption will be cancelled effective immediately. There are no exceptions to this rule.
Q45. Do you recommend that my cat/kitten be administrated the FIP (Feline Infectious Peritonitis) or FeLV (Feline Leukemia Virus) vaccine after they leave your care?
A45. Firstly, the FIP and FeLV vaccines are considered controversial. Studies conducted at Cornell University indicate that both the FIP and FeLV vaccines were not effective and that it even accelerated the disease in 52.5% of exposed cats making them more susceptible to these diseases. Although FIP is a mutated form of the coronavirus, the FIP vaccine was only designed to protect against a small percentage of coronaviruses, and is therefore unlikely to interrupt virus mutation in susceptible cats. All coronaviruses are RNA viruses. RNA blueprints are carried as 1 or 2 spiral strands of RNA rather than the DNA information that some viruses contain. All RNA viruses have a high error mutation rate, making vaccines against them difficult, since they keep changing. Apart from endangering the life of your kitten, since any vaccine can potentially develop into the disease it was design to protect against, both the FIP and FeLV vaccines can compromise the immunity of a young kitten/cat. These vaccines are not necessary for the health of indoor kitten/cat who do not have repeated contact with other cats. Consequently, I will nullify the Health & Genetic Guarantee if your cat or kitten is vaccinated against FIP or FeLV after they leave my care.
A46. Territorial spraying can typically occur in unaltered males especially if allowed to live outdoors. This instinctual drive develops during the age of sexual maturity which is triggered by hormonal changes. If you wait too long to neuter your male cat and allow him to reach full sexual hormonal maturity, spraying may become a fixated habit that may not be reversed, even after he is neutered. However, since all of Siamese Royalty kittens leave home altered, an advantage of early alteration, and owners are contractually obliged to keep their kittens/cats indoors, male kitten/cat spraying will not be an issue. I simply do not want such unwarranted fears/concerns to influence your choice in adopting a male kitten.
A47. Kitten pictures are posted periodically. There are many buyers wanting pictures of their kittens, consequently, I am unable to take pictures on a weekly basis.
